影片讲述两位体制内退休老人的故事，他们都喜欢去图书馆阅读。河北港口医院退休牙医王凤痴迷于中医理论，经常泡在图书馆阅读和撰写论文，希望自己能为中医理论发展有所贡献。张先生是北京人，1977 年相应国家从北京调入秦皇岛冶金设计院工作，老伴离世后，独自一人在秦皇岛生活，每逢十月一天气渐凉，他就会去已经嫁回北京的闺女那里。The film tells the story of two retired people in the system who like to go to the library to read. Wang Feng, a retired dentist in Hebei Port Hospital, is obsessed with the theory of traditional Chinese medicine. She often reads and writes papers in the library in the hope of contributing to the development of traditional Chinese medicine theory. Mr. Zhang, a Beijing native, was transferred from Beijing to work in Qinhuangdao Metallurgical Design Institute in 1977. After his wife died, he lived alone in Qinhuangdao. Every October when the weather became colder, he would go to his daughter who had married back to Beijing.
