棺材匠董全四的儿子董天奖已经第三年高考落榜了。迷信佛教的董全四决定佛诞节当天赶远路去永宁寺烧头柱香，求得佛爷庇佑好让儿子今年能考上大学。历经艰苦的董全四去到寺庙才知道头柱香需要钱来购买，爬墙硬闯又功败垂成。失落的董先生回程路经土地庙，上挂耶稣像，于是改为祈拜基督，不料儿子果然考上。董全四因此改变信仰，以为就此脱困的董先生却又要面对儿子高昂的学费负担。

The son of the coffin craftsman Dong Tianjiang failed in the college entrance examination for three times. Dong Quansi who had superstition about Buddhism decided to walk a long distance to go to Yongning Temple to burn the first joss stick on Buddha’s birthday, prayed to Buddha to bless that his son could be admitted to a good college. He didn’t know that he needed to pay for the first joss stick until Dong Quansi went to the temple through experiencing hardships. He climbed the wall with the attempt to break in, but failed. Mr. Dong felt lost. In the return journey, he passed through the temple of local god of the land, on which the picture of Jesus was hung. Then he changed to pray to Christ. Unexpectedly, his son was admitted to college. Therefore, Dong Quansi changed his belief. Mr. Dong who thought that he had got rid of poverty from then on had to shoulder the burden of expensive tuition of his son.
