神木县是中国第一产煤大县，煤矿开采造成了一系列环境问题。影片讲述了神木县矿工的生活，他们住的地方没有澡堂，没有厕所，几十个人挤在一个宿舍，食堂也很差。罗严荣在工作中曾被炸伤，为了供两个孩子上学和一家人的生活，他已经在矿上工作了十多年。
Shenmu County is China's largest coal county. The coal mining causes a series of environmental issues. The film tells the life of the miners in Shenmu County. There is no bath room or toilet where they live. Scores of people are crowded in a dormitory. The canteen is very poor. Luo Yanrong was injured by an explosion at work. He has worked in the mine for more than 10 years to support the whole family and the two children’s education.
